Not sure what to bring on your next southeast Asia adventure? We got you covered with our top picks on what to pack for Singapore.
Kevin and I just got back from 3 days in Singapore, and were SO HAPPY that we ordered these must-have items from Amazon ahead of our trip. I mean, who needs the stress once you get there? You’re on vacation after all. Also, we found that many of our must-have items were cheaper online rather than at the hotel gift shop. Let’s just say my $4 USD postcard from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel wasn’t exactly the best deal of the trip!
The Essentials: Top Picks on What to Pack for Singapore
- Tissue packets — Besides blowing your nose, you can use these to ‘reserve’ your seats at the hawker stalls.
- La Roche-Posay Sunscreen – The UV rays are very strong in Singapore. I like this brand of sunscreen since it is great for sensitive skin and has high SPF that is water resistant.
- Babyganics antibacterial wipes – You don’t need to have a baby to use these! I love that they’re alcohol-free, so you don’t dry out your hands, too. You can never have enough wipes — especially if you want to grab some food at the hawker stalls and can’t find a sink to wash your hands.
- Silkworld swim trunks – Don’t forget the swim suit! I mean, you gotta get those amazing shots at the rooftop pool at the Marina Bay Sands. We loved these lightweight shorts not just because of the price (umm, $18 USD!). But they come in several colors and they are made with quick-drying material.
- Drinko reusable water bottle – Keep your drinks cool inside this insulated metal reusable bottle. Most tap water is totally fine to drink. You’ll need to stay hydrated since it’s so hot.
What are the Best Packing Tips for Singapore?
This was one of our easier trips to pack for — Singapore pretty much has warm temperatures year round, even in the winter. In short, we recommend light, breathable cotton clothing for the day. At night time, it’s still pretty hot. I pretty much wore nice jeans every night and tried to minimize my walking (since I felt like I was walking through a swamp with all that humidity!). Singaporeans like to dress it up at night — I mean, you’ve seen the wardrobes in Crazy Rich Asians, right?
Other Weather Considerations for Singapore
Much like the rest of southeast Asia, monsoon season hits November through early January. If you’re traveling during that timeframe, we recommend umbrellas as well as layered quick drying material. The weather will still be warm. However, the last thing you’ll want to do is head inside a building with glacially-cold AC pumped up and being wet.
